Gerda is a retired, senior citizen living with her husband in Toronto, ON, Canada. Her first digital camera, a little Olympus that she received in 2001, turned her from a casual vacation-only point and shooter into a passionate photo enthusiast. Since then, she has earned a total of well over 1,000 Photo of the Day awards at the various online contest sites, was Featured Photographer of the Month for October 2006 at www.photoshowdown.com, winner of the Photo of the Year Award in the Abstract category for 2005 at Photoshowdown, and winner of the POTM award for October 2007, a BOC winner for September, 2008 and November 2009 at www.shutterbugs.biz She has also earned numerous awards in camera club competitions in her home city of Toronto, as well as medals, ribbons and acceptances in several regional competitions and International Salons. While photography is now her main interest and she has begun to turn her hobby into a home based business, she also loves travel, theatre and reading--and she especially loves the wonderful photo opportunities that travel affords.
